As we reported in the February 24 Benefits Byte, A key house subcommittee recently held a hearing to discuss the challenges and opportunities for a national paid family leave policy. Much of the discussion centered on the work of the bipartisan House Working Group on Paid Family Leave, which has developed legislation aiming to harmonize state paid family leave laws.
In the latest edition of Just a Minute!, Council President Katy Johnson describes the Council’s submission for the hearing record, which supports the efforts of the working group and calls on Congress to pass federal legislation harmonizing existing and potential forthcoming state paid leave programs.
